Reports of a controversial incident involving Boebert in 2004 emerged recently. According to these reports, it is alleged that on January 28, 2004, Boebert exposed himself to young individuals at the Rifle Fireside Lanes bowling alley in Rifle, Colorado.
It is said that Boebert approached two girls, aged 20 and 16, respectively, while they were standing at a snack bar. During their conversation about tattoos, Boebert purportedly remarked having a tattoo on his genitals. Despite the girls showing indifference, Boebert reportedly stood behind them and proceeded to unzip his pants, exposing his genitalia, with his hand covering the head.
The girls informed the bowling alley’s owner, who allegedly asked Boebert to leave multiple times, but he refused. Eventually, the owner became frustrated and contacted the police. When the police arrived, Boebert denied the allegations of exposing his genitalia and instead claimed that he had simply opened his pants and showed his thumb.

In 2013, Lauren Boebert and her ex-husband opened Shooters Grill in Rifle, Colorado. It was a restaurant known for encouraging staff members to openly carry firearms. Boebert claimed that she obtained a concealed carry permit after an incident where a man was “beaten to death by another man’s hands” near her restaurant.
This, she said, led her to encourage servers at the restaurant to openly carry guns. However, the statement about the man’s death is mostly false, as the individual reportedly died from a methamphetamine overdose after engaging in a fight blocks away from the restaurant.
In 2017, an outbreak of food poisoning occurred among 80 people who had consumed pork sliders from a temporary location set up by Shooters Grill and Smokehouse 1776 at a Garfield County fair. The restaurants did not have the necessary permits to operate in the temporary location, and the county health department attributed the outbreak to unsafe food handling.
Shooters Grill experienced financial losses, with Boebert’s congressional disclosure forms indicating a loss of $143,000 in 2019 and $226,000 in 2020.
Boebert and her husband also owned another restaurant, Smokehouse 1776, located across the street from Shooters Grill. In 2015, she opened Putters restaurant but later sold it in December 2016.
In early 2020, Boebert protested against stay-at-home orders and restaurant closures implemented by Colorado Governor Jared Polis in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In May 2020, she violated the state’s stay-at-home order by reopening Shooters Grill for dine-in service and this led to a cease and desist order from Garfield County.
Boebert initially refused to comply and later moved tables outside onto the sidewalk and parking spaces. Garfield County subsequently suspended her food license. Eventually, as restrictions eased and restaurants were allowed to reopen at limited capacity, the county dropped its temporary restraining order. Shooters Grill closed in July 2022 when the new owner of the building chose not to renew the lease.
Boebert gained attention for her staunch advocacy of gun rights, including a notable confrontation with Beto O’Rourke, a former Texas’ 16th congressional district representative, regarding policies on semi-automatic rifles. In 2020, she unexpectedly defeated incumbent representative Scott Tipton in the Republican primary election and went on to win the general election against Democratic candidate, Diane Mitsch Bush.
Boebert aligns herself with the conservative Republican Study Committee, the right-wing Freedom Caucus (where she became the communications chair in January 2022) and the pro-gun Second Amendment Caucus. She won narrow reelection in 2022.
As of January 29, 2022, Boebert had introduced 17 bills and seven resolutions, none of which got passed in the House. Boebert has faced criticism for blocking her critics on Twitter and was sued for blocking a constituent. The case was dismissed with prejudice in October 2022.
In September 2021, Boebert submitted resolutions to impeach President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris over the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan.
In February 2023, Boebert co-sponsored a bill to designate the “AR-15-style rifle” as the National Gun of the United States. During the 2023 United States debt-ceiling crisis, she opposed the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023 and vowed to vote against it, although she missed the vote and later claimed it was a “no-show protest”. However, footage showed her running up the steps to the House after the vote had already closed.
Boebert holds far-right views, although she rejects the label. She is a vocal ally and supporter of former U.S. president, Donald Trump. She has been accused of supporting the QAnon conspiracy theory, and her ties to far-right extremism have been investigated by academic and journalistic sources.
Boebert opposes transitioning to green energy, COVID-19 mask, and vaccine mandates, abortion, comprehensive sex education, gender affirmation surgery for minors, and same-sex marriage. She advocates for an isolationist foreign policy but supports closer ties with Israel for religious reasons.
Boebert holds strong opposition to the Equality Act, claiming that it promotes the “supremacy of gays” and expressing concerns about transgender women participating in sports and receiving scholarships. She also opposes same-sex marriage, stating her belief in the traditional definition of marriage as between one man and one woman.
Boebert introduced a bill aimed at prohibiting federal funding for research and publications related to transgender healthcare for minors, asserting that such practices involve sexualization and horrific sexual “research” when administering puberty blockers.
In 2022, she co-sponsored two bills widely perceived as anti-LGBT legislation. The first bill, introduced by Marjorie Taylor Greene, seeks to criminalise providing sex reassignment surgery and other forms of transgender healthcare to minors. The second bill, the Stop the Sexualization of Children Act, introduced by Mike Johnson, aims to prevent federally funded institutions from promoting or providing instruction on LGBT issues or sexual orientation.
Boebert is also a supporter of eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and has stated that it is one of her top legislative priorities. She also opposes the teaching of critical race theory in schools, although it is not taught in Colorado schools. During a press conference, she described critical race theory as a lie and asserted that it is racist, further stating that it would lead to children hating each other.
In 2015, Boebert was detained at a music festival for shouting at individuals arrested for underage drinking, claiming their arrest was unconstitutional due to the lack of Miranda warnings. She was cited for disorderly conduct but the charge was later dismissed. In 2016, she was cited for careless driving and operating an unsafe vehicle. In February 2017, she was arrested for failure to appear in court on these charges, pleaded guilty to the unsafe vehicle charge, and had the other charges dismissed.
During a Moms for America event at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in March 2023, Boebert announced that she would become a grandmother at the age of 36, after announcing that her eldest son, Tyler is expecting a child with his girlfriend, citing her mother’s early motherhood as an inspiration for her own.
