If you want to watch an animated series of the biggest quality possible, and fun all the way through, then there is no better place for it than Cartoon Network. Just like its name suggests, this is a television network aimed at kids and teenagers, with their shows being made mostly for kids from age seven and older, and it is a classic channel that has managed to stay true to its name, because even now, they don’t air live-action series, except for very special events, which is huge, considering that live-action series of television for children are more popular than ever.

The network launched in 1992, and since then has constantly put out some of the world’s biggest animated series, with hits that have become integral parts of pop culture, such as The Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Adventure Time, Ben 10, and many more. Because the network is available in so many households from all over the world, and their shows have been adapted and translated in so many languages, it is not at all surprising that in this category are some of the most popular ones you can find here, and we’re happy to offer them all for you, free of charge!

The beginnings of Cartoon Network

A television channel set up by TimeWarner media, which is why, at first, it consisted of lots of animated series that were produced by the company over the years, with some of them being huge hits already, and then they started producing original series for the network, as well as acquiring shows from different production companies. Of course, this was because it was a new channel, and as their shows became more and more popular, lots of new original shows came into the air in later years.

Two of the classic shows that were aired as re-runs quite a lot at the start of the channel are the amazing Tom and Jerry series, as well as Looney Tunes. In Tom and Jerry, we constantly see the antics of this cat-and-mouse pair as the cat tries to stop the mouse from stealing any cheese in the house, with lots of slapstick events and comedy happening around their adventures. Also with lots of slapstick comedic moments we see in the Looney Tunes series, where we follow the misadventures of classic characters like Bugs Bunny, Duffy Duck, Porky Pig, Road Runner, and many more!

Hanna-Barbera is a studio that has produced some of the most popular cartoons in the past, and their shows were also a staple of C.N. We had Yogi Bear, who has lots of comedic moments with the forest-keeper, The Flintstones, with their family adventures in a prehistoric world where humans and dinosaurs lived together, The Jetsons, about a family in the future, and then the classic cult-hit of Scooby-Doo, about the Mystery Gang going all over America and solving mysteries with ghosts, zombies, and more monsters, who always end up being humans.

The first two original shows produced for the channel were The Moxy Show, featuring short segments with the characters Moxy and Flea, as well as Space Ghost Coast to Coast, which was aimed primarily at adults, with it having a satirical late-night talk-show format. Lots of the shows mentioned earlier, which are now considered classics from the Baby Boom time, have been moved over to a new spin-off channel called Boomerang.

Boomerang started off as a programming block featuring these classic animations, but it has been re-worked into a full-fledged separate channel, and not only can you see all these classic TimeWarner cartoons on the network, but lots of new and original shows have come on it over the years, such as Bunnicula, or Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz.

The Golden Age of Cartoon Network

’What a Cartoon!’ used to be a special event show airing on Cartoon Network, where pilots from the creators wanting to have an original show of theirs on the network premiered, and some of their best pilots eventually ended up as original shows picked up by the channel, and many of them are considered classics to this day and are known all over the world, even by those who did not watch them at the time they were airing.

The first of these ones had been Dexter’s Laboratory. It follows a young boy who is also a genius, called Dexter, who has an underground huge laboratory under his house, where he invents all sorts of crazy devices and does evil schemes of different kinds. He is bothered constantly by his dumb and blonde older sister, Dee-Dee, and lots of adventures happen around the two, with lots of comedic moments and antics.

Johnny Bravo follows the title character, who is a young and muscular guy with blond hair who always wears sunglasses, and thinks of himself to be really cool, and who is always trying to hit on women around him. Still, Johnny usually fails in his pursuits of women, and the show has quite an adult humor to it while featuring cameos from real-life celebrities, and throwing in lots of pop-culture references.

In Cow and Chicken, a cow and a chicken, which is also their names, are two siblings. Yes, they are of a different race but are still brothers. They have all sorts of crazy adventures, many of them supernatural in nature, and are bothered by Red Guy, a devil who transforms himself in different characters to bother the two of them.

One of the biggest shows on this network has always been The Powerpuff Girls. It follows three girls who were made in a laboratory, using ingredients like sugar, spice, and everything nice, but the dangerous Chemical X was thrown in by mistake, granting them super-powers. The results are Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, three sisters who use their superpowers to save the people of Townsville from dangers, monsters, and villains, while also dealing with their daily lives as kids. A 2016 remake of the show is currently airing new episodes.

Another hit for the network had been Courage The Cowardly Dog, featuring a pink dog called Courage, who, despite his name, is afraid of everything around him, but always rises up to the occasion to save his owners. Together they live in a house in the middle of nowhere, where all sorts of supernatural and crazy things happen. We can’t forget about Ed Edd N’ Eddy either, a show featuring three boys with the same name but different personalities, who are always trying to scheme people out of money, so they can use the money to buy candy and have fun around.

All these shows, as well as many others from the same era, have their own categories of Cartoon Network Games online on our website, so we hope you check them out, since a little bit of throwback fun is always good to have.
