Sally Field was born on November 6, 1946, in Pasadena, California. As a teenager, Field did her schooling at Portola Middle School and Birmingham High School in Van Nuys. She was one of the cheerleaders when she studied at Birmingham High School.

Sally Field’s Career:
Sally Field came into the limelight first on the television sitcom ‘Gidget’ in which she enacted the role of a boy- crazy surfer girl. The show initially was not able to garner the audience’s attention. So the sitcom ended with a single season only. But during its rerun in summer, it received good ratings and it did receive success although very late. Wanting Field to be the protagonist of a show, ABC came up with a new show called ‘The Flying Nun’ in which she played the role of Sister Bertrille in the first three seasons. In DVD based release, Field had disclosed the fact that she loved ‘Gidget’ more than ‘The Flying Nun because on shoots during ‘The Flying Nun’, she was not treated with enough respect by the show’s directors. Fields were stereotyped because of which she started getting similar kinds of roles and getting projects having different types of roles became difficult for her. She then appeared in the television show ‘Maybe I’ll Come Home In The Spring’ on ABC playing the role of a discouraged teen runaway who returns home with a bearded drug-abusive hippie. Sally Field throughout mid-1970 appeared on many television shows as a guest.
1973 saw Field playing the role of a protagonist opposite John Davidson in the show ‘The Girl With Something Extra’ which couldn’t captivate the attention of the audiences much, so it ended in 1974 itself. The series then got cancelled leaving Sally Field with a lot of time in her hands. So she joined the Actors Studio to learn under the guidance of acting teacher Lee Strasberg. Lee Strasberg helped her to ace her acting skills and changed her from the typecast of ‘the girl next door’ that she was referred to as. Soon after studying under Strasberg, she got a very different role as a female lead who is a young woman suffering from dissociative identity disorder in the television film ‘Sybil’ which is actually based on the lines of the book written by Flora Rheta Schreiber which helped her to win many accolades.
In the year 1977, she was part of the second highest-grossing movie of that year titled ‘Smokey and the Bandit.’ Sally’s acting in a titular role in the ‘Norma Rae’ movie as a union organiser, gained her recognition as a dramatic actress. Field continued to appear in three more movies with Reynolds titled ‘The End’, ‘Hooper’ and ‘Smokey and the Bandit II.’ In 1981, Sally Field continued to play different roles like one of a foul-mouthed prostitute in the film ‘Back Roads.’ In 1986, she appeared in the March issue of the ‘Playboy.’ Later, Sally used to do many supporting roles in different movies.
