Sky Sports F1 host reveals Lewis Hamilton confessed she made him nervous
Sky Sports F1 host, Naomi Schiff, has always looked up to Lewis Hamilton. Throughout her career in motorsports, the Mercedes driver has been her inspiration. The 28-year-old revealed certain details about the time she interviewed Hamilton. It was right after the controversial end of the 2021 championship, Schiff sat down with Hamilton for the 2022 pre-season interview.
Lewis Hamilton and Naomi Schiff have been acquainted long before this interview. She revealed to Express.co.uk that this particular meeting added a lot of pressure. Schiff admitted she was nervous and mentioned it to Hamilton. It is not often an individual gets to interview their idol. It only makes sense that she was nervous, but what is surprising is how Lewis Hamilton felt.
“I mean, on one hand, it’s possibly a little bit more comfortable and you’re looking forward to it a lot more. But it’s also maybe more pressure I guess, because of everything that he meant to me growing up, so I was definitely very nervous”, stated Schiff. She confessed her feelings to Hamilton and wanted to “disarm him a little bit”.
Lewis Hamilton once defended Naomi Schiff when she faced online abuse
Schiff revealed that the seven-time world champion was sweet and gave her quality time. “We went 15 minutes overtime, and they wanted to cut the interview short, and he wanted to continue, so he was great. And then, in the end, he told me I made him nervous!.” After the interview, Hamilton confessed to her that he, too, felt nervous. It took the Sky Sports F1 presenter by surprise. She did not see that coming.
The former racing driver explained that it was a special interview. After the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton went under the radar for a couple of months. There were speculations about whether he would come back. Naomi Schiff was one of the first people to sit down with Hamilton after that incident, she revealed that it was a moment she would cherish forever.
The former W Series driver, faced abuse on Twitter last season regarding her racing records. Lewis Hamilton defended her, stating she is an ex-professional racing driver and is qualified to give her opinions. He called for a change in attitude. Hamilton explained there is no place for online abuse, especially against women in the paddock. Formula 1 is a male-dominated sport, and the Mercedes driver wants to improve female representation in the sport.
