Treasure Valley rallies with WCA ahead of Domestic Violence Awareness Month
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Treasure Valley community leaders and survivors gathered on Friday with the Women's and Children's Alliance (WCA) in support ahead of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
In 2022 alone, 10 Idahoans lost their lives to domestic violence, and law enforcement agencies across the state received nearly 6,000 reports of intimate partner violence. That is only what has been reported.
Service providers and law enforcement note that many survivors do not report for various reasons but want to emphasize the community and support the WCA offers survivors who are still in or escaping an abusive situation.
One survivor shared her story of the generational struggle and hurt caused by domestic violence and the first responders' role in making her feel secure and protected.
