While the fans thought nothing could go more wrong on the drenched Paris night, they were heavily proven incorrect. The iconic Olympic flag was raised upside down in an embarrassing moment during the 2024 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony down the River Seine.

The members of the French military raised the flag with its five rings at the Place du Trocadero near the Eiffel Tower, until the topsy-turvy situation, with two bottom rings flipped to the top was seen. Fans criticized the error, noting “distress”.

The 85 boats carried approximately 7,000 athletes from 205 countries, welcoming them to the Paris Games. The Opening Ceremony was almost three and a half hours long. The flag was seen carried by a cloaked rider in the Trocadero, riding a metal horse draped in a cape decorated with the Olympic rings.

2024 Paris Olympic Games amass blunders following Opening Night Ceremony

Apart from the huge blunder of raising the Olympic flag upside down, the night garnered further attention following a couple more mistakes. A major oversight was captured on TV screens as a performer suffered a wardrobe malfunction following the dance routine.

After his performance, the dancer posed in the background where the cameras caught his shorts scrunched up his leg, leaving him exposed to all the people worldwide. Another notable incident so far in the Olympic Games was South Korea being introduced as North Korea.
